Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid heartfelt tribute today to the brave security personnel who sacrificed their lives while defending India’s Parliament during the heinous terrorist attack on December 13, 2001.


The Prime Minister stated that the nation remembers with reverence those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He emphasised that their courage, vigilance, and unwavering commitment during moments of grave danger continue to inspire every citizen.

Sharing his thoughts on X, Modi wrote: “On this day, our nation remembers those who sacrificed their lives in the heinous attack on our Parliament in 2001. Despite grave danger, their courage, vigilance, and dedication were commendable. India will remain forever grateful for their supreme sacrifice.”

The Parliament attack of 2001 remains one of the darkest chapters in India’s democratic history. Armed terrorists stormed the complex, but the alertness and bravery of security personnel prevented a larger tragedy.
