The body of missing YouTuber Sagar Kundu was recovered near Duduma Waterfalls in Odisha’s Koraput district, nearly ten days after he was swept away while filming content for his channel.
Kundu, accompanied by fellow creator Abhijit Behera, had been capturing drone footage of the scenic falls on August 23 when he reportedly slipped into the fast-flowing waters. Despite extensive search operations, his body was only found on Wednesday, approximately 3 kilometers downstream from the Machkund Hydro Power Project.
Authorities confirmed that the body was discovered in a highly mutilated state, missing the head. A mobile phone was also recovered at the site, which may aid investigators in piecing together the final moments of the tragic incident.
Local residents and fellow content creators expressed shock and grief, raising concerns about the lack of safety infrastructure at popular tourist and adventure filming spots like Duduma. Officials have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident and urged visitors to exercise extreme caution in high-risk zones.
This incident has sparked a broader conversation about the safety of digital creators who often venture into dangerous terrains for compelling content.
