The body of a missing taxi driver was discovered on Chandaka–Barang Road in Bhubaneswar, days after his family received a ransom call demanding Rs 2 crore.
The deceased has been identified as Vidyadhar Sahu, a resident of Sishupalgarh, who had reportedly gone missing on September 15.
According to police sources, Vidyadhar’s abandoned taxi was first spotted by locals near the roadside. Upon further search, his body was found beyond the guard wall, with a towel tied around his neck, suggesting possible strangulation. Items recovered from the scene include an umbrella, a liquor bottle, and a wallet, which may serve as crucial evidence in the investigation.
The family had filed a missing person complaint on September 19, after receiving the ransom call. Following the discovery, Badagada police informed the family, who later confirmed the identity of the deceased.
Police have launched a detailed probe to uncover the circumstances surrounding Vidyadhar’s abduction and suspected murder. The case has sparked concern over rising crime incidents and the safety of transport workers in the region.
