In a shocking incident that has rattled the state capital, Bhubaneswar, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped near the banks of the Daya River on December 11.
The heinous crime occurred while the victim was out with her male friend, highlighting growing concerns over women’s safety even in urban areas.
According to the FIR lodged at Dhauli Police Station by the victim’s family, the accused assaulted the girl’s male companion, threatened him, and forced him to flee the scene. They then abducted the minor and committed the gang rape at the secluded riverbank location.
Following the complaint, Dhauli Police swiftly swung into action, arresting two of the accused and forwarding them to court. Multiple police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects. The victim was taken for medical examination, her statement recorded, and the case registered under the POCSO Act along with relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Police sources confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with emphasis on ensuring swift justice for the survivor.
