India Issues Advisory for Citizens in Israel Amid Rising Regional Tensions

India has issued a safety advisory for its nationals currently in Israel, urging them to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety guidelines amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

In an advisory released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Indian citizens in Israel were asked to adhere to instructions issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. The MEA also advised Indian nationals to avoid all non-essential travel to Israel until the situation stabilises.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals currently in Israel are advised to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to the safety guidelines and protocols issued by the Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command,” the advisory said.

For emergencies, Indian citizens have been asked to contact the Embassy of India’s 24×7 helpline at:
+972-54-7520711 or +972-54-3278392.

Regional Situation and Security Measures

The advisory comes amid heightened regional uncertainty, with ongoing protests in Iran and warnings of potential military escalation involving the United States. Iranian authorities have cautioned that US military bases in the region could be considered legitimate targets in the event of an attack, raising concerns across neighbouring countries, including Israel.

Amid the growing tensions, several areas in southern and central Israel have reportedly ordered the opening of public shelters as a precautionary measure. According to international media reports, local authorities have stated that preparedness is essential given the evolving security environment.

India Also Advises Citizens to Leave Iran

Separately, India has stepped up preparations to evacuate its citizens from Iran due to the deteriorating situation there. Earlier this week, the Indian Embassy in Tehran issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals—including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists—to leave Iran using available means of transport, including commercial flights.

The embassy advised Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Iran to exercise due caution, avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations, and stay in close contact with the embassy. Citizens were also urged to monitor local media for updates.

According to official estimates, over 10,000 Indians, including a large number of students, are currently residing in Iran.

The MEA said it continues to closely monitor developments in the region and will issue further advisories as required to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian nationals abroad.
