In a thrilling encounter at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Delhi Capitals (DC) showcased a dominant performance against Gujarat Giants (GG), setting a challenging target of 178 runs in 20 overs.

The match, held at a packed stadium, saw some electrifying cricket from both sides.

Delhi Capitals’ captain, Meg Lanning, led from the front with a sensational knock, scoring 92 runs off just 57 balls. Her innings was studded with 15 boundaries and a towering six, earning her accolades from both teammates and fans. Shafali Verma provided crucial support, smashing 40 runs off 27 balls, including three fours and three sixes.

The Capitals’ innings began with a bang as Shafali Verma launched a fiery attack on the Giants’ bowlers. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Capitals maintained a healthy run rate, thanks to Lanning’s masterclass in batting. The Giants’ bowlers, Deandra Dottin and Meghna Singh, tried their best to contain the flow of runs, with Dottin claiming 2 wickets for 37 runs and Singh taking 3 wickets for 35 runs.

Key moments in the innings included Harleen Deol’s near-stunning catch attempt and the multiple sixes from Lanning and Verma that kept the crowd on their feet. The fall of wickets included Jess Jonassen, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Annabel Sutherland, adding to the drama of the match.

As the Giants gear up for their chase, they need to score 178 runs in 120 balls at a required run rate of 8.9. With a strong total set by the Capitals, the Giants have a daunting task ahead to secure a victory.

Stay tuned for more updates and live coverage of this exciting WPL 2025 match!
