A two-day orientation programme for district-level Master Trainers on flagship urban initiatives commenced at the SUDA Conference Hall today.
The event, organised by the Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, aims to bolster grassroots capacities for effective implementation of urban programmes across the state.
Innovation-Driven Urban Vision
Inaugurating the programme, Principal Secretary Smt. Usha Padhee emphasised a decisive shift from traditional urban planning. “To realise the vision of Viksit Odisha @2036 and contribute towards Viksit Bharat @2047, we must adopt innovation, act proactively, and embrace future-readiness,” she urged. She highlighted the transformative potential of missions such as the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikash Yojana (MSBY), Shahajog, and Ankur, encouraging trainers to champion inclusive urban renewal.
Expert-Led Thematic Sessions
Senior officials, including Shri Arindam Dakua (Director, Municipal Administration), Shri Gangadhar Naik, Shri Satrughna Kar, Smt. Sikha Biswal, Shri Saroj Kumar Das, Shri Bilas Behera, and Shri Gurucharan Das delivered thematic sessions on Housing for All, Urban Sanitation, Water Supply, Liveable Cities, Urban Planning, and E-Governance. These sessions were designed to strengthen policy understanding and practical execution at the district and ULB levels.
Grassroots Capacity Building
In his welcome address, Project Director SUDA Shri Rabindra Kumar Sahu noted the crucial role of Master Trainers in cascading learnings across Odisha’s urban landscape. He reiterated the importance of institutional capacity-building for people-centric and sustainable urban transformation.
