Berhampur Police have uncovered a large-scale fraud in the Odisha Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination, detaining over 100 candidates suspected of involvement.
The operation unfolded after a tip-off led authorities to Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district. Several aspirants were intercepted en route to Hyderabad.
According to sources, the detained individuals were allegedly being transported by a private organisation responsible for exam logistics. This organisation is now under scrutiny for facilitating cheating. The candidates were reportedly heading to Hyderabad to engage in fraudulent activities related to the SI exam.
Following their detention in Srikakulam, the suspects were brought back to Brahmapur for interrogation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the organisation may have orchestrated a network of impersonators and forged documents to manipulate the recruitment process.
The Odisha Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the matter. This has sparked widespread concern over the integrity of the recruitment system. Officials have vowed to take strict action against all those involved, including institutional facilitators and candidates.
This incident has cast a shadow over the credibility of the Odisha Police SI recruitment process, prompting calls for tighter security measures and transparency in future examinations.
