Bhubaneswar: After four days of closure due to impasses between permanent vendors and footpath sellers, the city’s biggest retail and wholesale facility unit-II market will reopen today.
Reportedly, the decision was taken by the association after a meeting with the officials of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the office of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited at Saheed Nagar.
It is pertinent to mention that a week after their eviction from the Market Building, the vendors returned and forcibly tried to set up stalls in the area on Sunday. When association members opposed it, they allegedly assaulted them.
On the other hand, due to the shutdown of the market building for four days it has suffered economically, as informed by the traders.
