Two jawans were critically injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Maoists rocked the border region in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
The incident occurred during a combing operation, when security forces engaged in a fierce gun battle with armed Maoist cadres.
The blast was followed by an intense exchange of gunfire between police teams and Maoists, during which several insurgents are suspected to have sustained injuries. However, no confirmation on Maoist casualties has been released as yet.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the region, with reinforcements deployed along the volatile border stretch. Surveillance has been intensified as teams scan the area for hidden explosive devices and possible hideouts.
The injured personnel were airlifted to a nearby medical facility and are currently under intensive care. Their condition is reported to be critical.
This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by left-wing extremism in the Red Corridor, where Maoist groups continue to target security forces using guerrilla tactics. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity in border-adjacent villages.
