Security forces dismantled a Maoist camp in the Chhatradandi forest under Tureikela police station limits in Bolangir district, recovering a massive cache of explosives.
Acting on intelligence regarding Maoist presence in the Gandhamardan Hills and surrounding forest areas, personnel from the Bolangir police, District Voluntary Force (DVF), and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a coordinated raid on Thursday. Although the Maoists managed to escape before the operation, authorities recovered substantial explosives, indicating plans for a major attack.
Security officials suggest that intensified anti-Maoist operations in Chhattisgarh, particularly Operation Black Forest, have pushed insurgents toward Odisha, marking a growing security concern for the region. The Bolangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund (BBM) jungle corridor has reportedly been used by Maoists for strategic movement.
Northern Range IG Himanshu Lal and Bolangir SP Avilash G have confirmed that a formal briefing will be conducted at 11:30 AM on May 16, 2025, to provide further details on the operation.
