A shocking incident unfolded in Bharandia village under Thakurmunda police limits when a father allegedly killed his son with an axe following a heated quarrel.
According to reports, Anam Baisia (62) attacked his elder son, Tapan Baisia, with an axe on Thursday night after repeated disputes. Tapan, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, had been frequently quarrelling with his father, damaging household asbestos sheets, and issuing threats. On the night of the incident, the argument escalated, leading Anam to strike his son fatally.
After the attack, Anam Baisia went to the Thakurmunda police station and surrendered.
Upon receiving information, IIC Sabitri Dalei, SI Anita Swain, ASI Amaresh Barik, and a scientific team reached the spot. The body was seized and sent to Karanjia Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Following instructions from IIC Dalei, SI Anita Swain registered Case No. 7/2026 under Section 103(1) and initiated further investigation.
