A shocking murder unfolded today in the Jhankarpali Turipada area under the Jujumura police station in Sambalpur district.

Balakrishna Mallick, a resident of the area, allegedly attacked his father, Gaya Mallick (80), with an iron rod, leading to his death on the spot. His mother, Ukia Mallick (70), sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Burla VIMSAR for medical treatment.

The accused, Balakrishna, has been detained by the police, who have also seized the weapon used in the attack. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from ongoing family disputes. Reports indicate that Balakrishna, though married, had strained relations with his wife, who left him a month ago to stay at her parental home. This reportedly left him emotionally distressed.

Additionally, it is alleged that frequent arguments over financial matters between Balakrishna and his parents contributed to the tragic escalation. The police are conducting a detailed investigation to uncover the exact circumstances leading to this heinous act.
