A man was killed after a speeding truck hit the bike he was riding in the Purunakatak area of Boudh district on Monday.
As per reports, the bike rider died instantly when the truck rammed into his bike. Following the collision, the truck veered out of control and slammed into a roadside tree.
Local sources confirmed that the accident took place during morning hours. The victim died on the spot, though his identity remains unknown. Police reached the site quickly, detained the truck driver, and began questioning him. Preliminary investigation blamed overspeeding and negligence for the accident.
Traffic movement on the local road remained disrupted for some time. Residents assisted in rescue operations immediately after the crash. Authorities later sent the body for post-mortem examination.
The incident has raised alarm among locals, who expressed concern over the rising number of road accidents in Boudh district. They pointed to reckless driving and frequent violations of traffic rules as major causes. Demands have grown for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations in the area.
Police assured that measures will be taken to improve road safety. Meanwhile, the community mourned the victim’s death and extended condolences to his family.
