A man died in Deogarh district on Friday after coming in contact with an 11 KV electric wire while repairing a connection.

The incident occurred in Purukunda village under Deogarh police station limits. The deceased has been identified as Ghanshyam Nayak, aged 50, from Khajuribahal village. He was repairing an electric line when he accidentally touched the live wire. His body remained stuck to the electric pole until police arrived.

Local sources said Ghanshyam previously worked with the electricity department but was not an employee at present. A villager had called him to fix the connection privately. During the repair, negligence led to the fatal contact with the high-voltage wire.

Deogarh police reached the spot and recovered the body. Officers registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances that led to the mishap.
