The Capital Police in Bhubaneswar on Thursday arrested Sandeep Kumar Pradhan (30), a resident of Balugaon, for attempting to enter the Lok Seva Bhawan with a fake secretariat entry pass on July 23, 2025.
The incident unfolded at around 3:42 PM at Gate No. 6 of the state secretariat, where Sub-Inspector Manoranjan Mohanty, on duty, intercepted the suspect. Pradhan tried to flee towards AG Square after abandoning the forged ID, but was chased and detained by SI Mohanty near the square.
Following a complaint lodged by SI Mohanty, the Capital Police registered a case (No. 360) under sections 319(2), 318(2), 336(3), and 340(2) of the BNS Act. During interrogation, Pradhan confessed to creating the fake ID at a DTP centre with the intent to deceive a youth by promising a government job in exchange for money. He also admitted to using the forged ID to enter the Lok Seva Bhawan last month.
Zone ACP Ramesh Chandra Bisoi confirmed the arrest during a press conference on July 24, 2025, stating that further investigations are underway to uncover any additional involvement or similar incidents.
The incident highlights the police’s vigilance and raises concerns about the misuse of forged documents to access high-security government premises. Authorities are now probing the source of the fake ID and potential links to broader fraudulent activities.
