Prayagraj: In a spectacular display of devotion and organization, nearly 1.60 crore people took a ritual dip at the Triveni Sangam and surrounding ghats by 12 pm on Wednesday, marking the auspicious occasion of Magha Purnima during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
The Uttar Pradesh government confirmed that the sacred bath, which began early Wednesday morning, attracted massive crowds amid elaborate arrangements.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been closely monitoring the event from his war room at his official residence in Lucknow since 4 am. As part of the event’s broader schedule, the month-long Kalpavas will come to an end on Magha Purnima, with around 10 lakh Kalpvasis set to begin their departure from the Kumbh. Authorities have urged the departing pilgrims to adhere to traffic rules and use only designated parking spaces.
