Puri police have made a major revelation in the murder case of transgender Anjali, also known as Sona. Officials confirmed that the killing was carried out with the motive of looting.
According to police, the prime accused, Krishna Kandi, a notorious criminal with multiple robbery cases against him, attacked Anjali near Sijua on February 1. When police attempted to arrest him near his house in Gadarupas, Puri district, Krishna tried to escape and opened fire. In retaliation, police shot him in the leg, leaving him injured. He was first taken to Pipili hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College in Cuttack.
Police also arrested his associate, Sanil Kandi, while search operations continue for other accomplices. Pipili police confirmed that Krishna and his gang targeted Anjali for robbery, which led to the murder.
Puri SP stated that Krishna is a habitual offender with several snatching and loot cases registered against him. The investigation remains ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
