The Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced with turbulence as the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12:00 PM following vociferous protests by members of the INDIA bloc.
The disruption began during Question Hour, as Opposition MPs raised slogans demanding urgent debate on Operation Sindoor—an alleged security operation—and the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which has sparked widespread concern.
Speaker Om Birla attempted to manage the commotion, urging members to maintain decorum. However, repeated interruptions led to the early adjournment of proceedings.
Adding to the tension, the Opposition demanded a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding former US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks claiming to have mediated a peace dialogue between India and Pakistan. MPs also pushed for clarification on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of electoral rolls in Bihar, alleging potential voter suppression among marginalised communities.
With multiple contentious issues on the agenda, including foreign policy accountability and electoral transparency, the Monsoon Session is expected to remain heated in the days to come.
