Lionel Messi arrived in New Delhi on Monday as part of his three-day GOAT India Tour, but his scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not take place.
The meeting was cancelled because it clashed with the Prime Minister’s overseas visit.
Firstly, Messi’s India tour began with a chaotic experience at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Afterwards, his journey continued smoothly in Hyderabad and Mumbai, where events unfolded without disruption. In New Delhi, officials had prepared a 21-minute protocol for his meeting with Modi. However, the Prime Minister departed for Amman earlier in the day to begin a four-day trip covering Oman, Ethiopia, and Jordan to strengthen bilateral ties.
Secondly, although the meeting with Modi was cancelled, Messi will meet several prominent figures during his Delhi stop. His schedule includes interactions with cricketer Virat Kohli, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
Finally, Messi’s visit will conclude with a grand felicitation event at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He will conduct a coaching clinic and participate in a meet-and-greet session with young players from Minerva Academy, who recently won three European youth trophies.
The GOAT India Tour continues to attract massive attention, as fans and dignitaries eagerly follow Messi’s engagements across the country.
