In preparation for the Maha Shivaratri celebrations on February 26th, 2025, at the historic Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhubaneswar, Pinak Mishra, announced that around 40 platoons of police will be deployed to ensure security.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, DCP Mishra detailed the extensive security measures that have been put in place to manage the anticipated large crowds of devotees. “Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the Lingaraj Temple tomorrow to offer prayers. We have already made all necessary arrangements for traffic management, safety, and security. Emergency services, including fire brigades, have also been arranged,” he stated.
The DCP further mentioned that over 100 police officers of various ranks will be present at the temple. Police duties will commence early in the morning and continue throughout the day. “We request the public to cooperate with the police. Our goal is to ensure that this world-renowned Maha Shivaratri celebration is carried out safely,” he added.
With comprehensive security measures in place, authorities aim to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration for all devotees attending the festival.
