A bomb attack in Bharatpur, Bhubaneswar, late Sunday evening has left residents in shock and four high-value motorcycles reduced to ashes.

The incident, believed to be rooted in a land dispute, has sparked concerns over deteriorating law and order in Odisha’s capital.

According to preliminary investigations by police, the attack occurred near Pandakudia Basti, a locality under the Bharatpur police station jurisdiction. Miscreants detonated a bomb, causing a fire that completely destroyed four parked motorcycles. While no casualties were reported, the incident has spread panic among locals, with many expressing concerns over safety.

Senior Police Officer Manas Basti stated, “We are yet to ascertain who carried out the attack and the exact motive, but we suspect it was a pre-planned act linked to a land dispute.” The police have launched a thorough investigation, reviewing CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence from the scene. Additional security measures have been deployed in the area to restore calm and prevent further incidents. The attack has raised alarm among residents, who are questioning the state of law enforcement in the city.

“This kind of violence in a residential area is terrifying. We need better protection,” said a local resident. Authorities have assured the public that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.

As investigations continue, the incident underscores the need for stricter measures to address disputes and prevent such violent acts in Bhubaneswar.
