A tragic case of alleged corporal punishment has surfaced in Koraput district, where a 10-year-old student died while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) after being brutally beaten by his school headmaster.
The victim, identified as Ganga Jani, was a Class 5 student residing at the Gadapadar Hostel School near Jayapur. He belonged to Kenduguda village under Randapali Panchayat.
According to a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Tinu Jani, at the Sadar Police Station, the incident occurred on Friday and Saturday when the headmaster of the residential school subjected Ganga to severe physical punishment. The brutal beating left the young boy critically ill.
