The Odisha Vigilance Department has intensified its investigation into Sakuntala Das, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) of Dashmantpur Block, following her arrest for allegedly accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe from a newly appointed Anganwadi Helper.
The case has led to extensive searches at multiple locations linked to Das and her family, revealing significant assets.
Authorities have uncovered a triple-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, a double-storeyed building in Koraput, and an under-construction property in Puri. Additionally, a homestead plot, cash reserves, fixed deposits worth Rs 22.10 lakh, and nine bank accounts under scrutiny have raised concerns about disproportionate wealth accumulation. A Mahindra XUV 500 was also seized during the searches.
The case, registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, underscores the government’s commitment to tackling corruption at the grassroots level. Vigilance officials continue their probe to determine the full extent of the financial irregularities.
