Khordha district administration directed all schools to operate in morning hours from June 19 to June 25 to protect students from the ongoing heatwave and high humidity.
The order covers government, aided, and privately managed institutions from Sishu Vatika to Class XII.
According to the official directive issued by the District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha, classes will begin at 6:30 AM and end at 10:30 AM. The administration said the decision aims to safeguard the health and well-being of students while ensuring uninterrupted academic activities.
Heads of institutions must provide adequate drinking water, oral rehydration solutions (ORS), first-aid facilities, and proper ventilation in classrooms. The order also instructed schools to maintain safety and security measures throughout the revised schedule.
Administrative functions, mid-day meals, and other essential school activities will continue as usual within the new timings. Examination schedules and teacher duties will remain unchanged, but must follow all precautionary measures.
Officials warned that any violation of the order will be treated seriously, and action will be taken as per the rules. The directive reflects the administration’s proactive approach to managing extreme weather conditions and ensuring student safety.
