Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of Himadri Kumar Panda, Ex-Senior Clerk of the Tahasil Office, M. Rampur, Kalahandi district, in a bribery case on April 30, 2026.
Panda, who was serving as Senior Clerk at the District Planning and Monitoring Unit (DPMU), Bhawanipatna, faced charges under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Amendment Act, 1988. Vigilance officials proved that he demanded and accepted a bribe from a staffer of the Tahasil office to facilitate the drawl of his GPF advance.
The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, sentenced Panda to one year of simple imprisonment along with a fine. The court’s decision marked a significant step in Odisha’s ongoing anti-corruption drive.
Odisha Vigilance announced that it will now move the competent authority to dismiss Panda from service following his conviction. Officials emphasised that strict action against corrupt practices remains a priority to uphold transparency and accountability in government offices.
