In a significant judicial appointment, Justice Dixit Krishna Shripada was sworn in as a Judge of the Orissa High Court on Monday. The oath-taking ceremony was presided over by Orissa High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon at the High Court premises in Cuttack.
Justice Shripada’s transfer from the Karnataka High Court marks an important judicial transition, raising the total number of judges in the Orissa High Court to 19. With an illustrious career beginning in July 1989, he has specialized in writ law, election law, and service law. His legal expertise has been demonstrated through his roles as senior standing counsel for the Election Commission of India and additional Central government standing counsel since 1999.
Over the years, Justice Shripada has represented key institutions such as the University Grants Commission, Competition Commission of India, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. His appointment as Assistant Solicitor General of India in 2014 further solidified his standing in the legal community before his elevation as a judge in 2018.
His swearing-in is expected to contribute to the efficiency of judicial proceedings and uphold the legal standards of the Orissa High Court.
