Odisha continues to experience cold wave conditions as temperatures dropped sharply across several districts due to the inflow of cold and dry northwesterly winds, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Jharsuguda recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8.6°C at 5:30 am, marking a notably cold start to the day. Other regions also reported low minimum temperatures, reflecting the widespread impact of the cold spell.

Temperatures Across Key Locations

  • Keonjhar: 10.2°C

  • Bhubaneswar: 13.2°C

  • Balasore: 13.6°C

Residents across the state have been experiencing chilly mornings and nights, with foggy conditions reported in some areas, particularly in the early hours.

Cold Wave to Persist Till January 17

As per the IMD forecast, the cold wave conditions are expected to continue across Odisha until January 17. However, a gradual rise in temperatures is anticipated from January 18, owing to the influence of an approaching western disturbance.

The expected change in weather is likely to bring temporary relief from the prevailing cold, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.

Authorities have advised people, particularly children, elderly individuals, and those with health conditions, to take necessary precautions during the cold spell.
