In a relief to India’s aviation and hospitality sectors, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been reduced by 2.82%, marking the third consecutive monthly drop amid a sustained decline in global oil prices. Additionally, commercial LPG prices were cut by ₹24 per 19-kg cylinder, offering respite to hotels and restaurants.
According to state-owned oil companies, ATF in Delhi now costs ₹83,072.55 per kilolitre, down by ₹2,414.25. This follows earlier cuts of 4.4% in May and 6.15% in April, effectively rolling back price hikes from early 2024.
ATF Prices in Major Metros (per kilolitre):
-
Mumbai: ₹77,602.73
-
Chennai: ₹86,103.25
-
Kolkata: ₹86,052.57
Fuel costs account for nearly 40% of an airline’s operating expenses, making this reduction a significant breather for aviation players. No official response from airline operators has been reported yet.
Meanwhile, commercial LPG cylinder prices now stand at:
-
Delhi: ₹1,723.50
-
Mumbai: ₹1,647.50
This follows price cuts of ₹14.50 in May and ₹41 in April. The reduction comes despite ongoing geopolitical and trade-related global oil demand slowdowns.
However, retail prices of petrol and diesel remain frozen, with petrol at ₹94.72/litre and diesel at ₹87.62/litre in Delhi — unchanged since the ₹2 cut in March 2024 ahead of the general elections.
Domestic LPG prices for households also remain unchanged at ₹853 per 14.2-kg cylinder, after a ₹50 increase in April.
Fuel pricing is revised monthly by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), based on global oil benchmarks and rupee-dollar exchange rates.
