Jay Dholakia, son of the late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on October 11 in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Shortly after his induction, BJP announced him as its official candidate for the Nuapada Assembly bypoll.
Tomorrow, Jay plans to file his nomination papers, accompanied by senior BJP leaders. His swift entry and candidacy reflect BJP’s strategic efforts to expand its influence in western Odisha. The Nuapada seat became vacant following his father’s passing, who had represented the constituency under the BJD banner.
Recognizing Jay’s strong local ties and family reputation, BJP leaders believe he can energize the party’s prospects in the region. His nomination has already sparked interest among voters and political analysts.
After conducting internal consultations and evaluating grassroots support, the party finalized Jay’s candidacy. BJP aims to consolidate its presence in Nuapada, a constituency known for its unpredictable voting trends.
Jay expressed gratitude to the party leadership and pledged to carry forward his father’s developmental initiatives. He outlined plans to prioritize youth empowerment, infrastructure upgrades, and agricultural reforms if elected.
As the bypoll approaches, political activity intensifies across Odisha. Major parties are preparing for a competitive race, with BJP positioning Jay Dholakia as a candidate who blends emotional appeal with regional relevance.
