Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested the Sub Inspector of Police in Jajpur district for demanding and accepting a bribe.
The accused has been identified as Abhay Kumar Nayak, SI of Police, Sukinda Police Station, Dist-Jajpur.
Nayak has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a Complainant to help him in a family dispute matter.
The accused SI, took Rs 1000 earlier and asked the complt to pay Rs 4000 further, threatening to entangle him in a criminal case otherwise. Left with no option, the Complt. reported the matter to the Vigilance Authority.
Accordingly, Vigilance Officials made the plan and trapped the accused SI, Sri Nayak today, while taking the demanded bribe money from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused and seized.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.02/2025 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused.
