The Jagatsinghpur district administration suspended a Junior Revenue Assistant after allegations surfaced that he installed a spy camera inside a women’s toilet at the Zilla Parishad office.
Officials identified the accused as Sanjay Adheka. The suspension order, issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, cited prima facie evidence of his involvement in the incident. Authorities described the act as serious misconduct and a violation of women’s privacy and dignity.
Preliminary findings indicated that the camera was installed and used inside the ladies’ toilet. The administration noted that such actions constitute punishable offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The Collector emphasised that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. The suspension will remain in effect while a detailed inquiry is conducted. Officials assured that strict action will follow based on the final investigation report.
The incident has sparked outrage among staff and locals, who demanded accountability and stronger safeguards to protect women’s privacy in government offices.
Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
