Iran has assured India of safe passage for its vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.
Ambassador Mohammad Fathali emphasised India’s status as a “friend” and confirmed that two LPG tankers bound for India were cleared to transit safely.
The envoy noted that India could expect swift cooperation, with safe passage possible within “two or three hours.”
This assurance comes at a time of heightened regional tensions in the Persian Gulf, where shipping movements are closely monitored.
The move underscores Iran’s intent to maintain stable relations with India and safeguard energy supplies crucial to New Delhi’s economy.
