Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showcased disciplined bowling to restrict Mumbai Indians (MI) to 147/8 in Match 65 of IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

Winning the toss, KKR opted to field first, and their bowlers delivered a clinical performance that kept MI’s batting lineup under constant pressure.

MI’s innings began with early setbacks as opener Ryan Rickelton fell cheaply, followed by Naman Dhir and Rohit Sharma in quick succession. At 23/3, the visitors were in deep trouble. Suryakumar Yadav attempted to counterattack with a brisk 15 off 6 balls but was undone by Saurabh Dubey. Tilak Varma’s cautious 20 off 32 balls steadied the innings briefly, yet the lack of momentum hurt MI’s scoring rate.

Captain Hardik Pandya tried to anchor the middle overs with 26 off 27 balls, but wickets kept tumbling around him. Corbin Bosch provided late fireworks with a spirited 32 off 18 balls, striking three boundaries and two sixes, ensuring MI crossed the 140-run mark. Deepak Chahar chipped in with 10 runs before falling in the final over.

KKR’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Sunil Narine, who delivered a miserly spell of 1/13 in four overs, choking MI’s scoring opportunities. Saurabh Dubey and Kartik Tyagi picked up two wickets each, while Cameron Green’s pace accounted for two crucial dismissals. Their combined effort ensured MI never found rhythm, with only Bosch offering resistance in the death overs.

The fall of wickets at regular intervals highlighted MI’s struggle against KKR’s varied attack. Partnerships failed to flourish, and the team’s inability to build momentum left them short of a competitive total.

With 148 runs to chase, KKR now hold the advantage on their home turf. The outcome of this match could play a decisive role in shaping the playoff race, as both teams are battling for crucial points in the final stretch of the league stage.
