The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will unveil the schedule for the first 20 days of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by March 12, according to secretary Devajit Saikia.
Tournament Dates
The 19th season of the IPL will now run from March 28 to May 31. Earlier, the tournament was planned from March 26 to May 30, but dates were slightly adjusted to avoid clashes with assembly elections in West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu.
Teams Begin Preparations
Even before the full schedule is announced, franchises have started training camps. Chennai Super Kings began practice on March 1 at their High‑Performance Centre in Navalur, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and MS Dhoni present. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru held a camp at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on February 10. Gujarat Titans trained at Miraj International Cricket Stadium in Nathdwara, while Punjab Kings held sessions in Abu Dhabi and Dharamsala.
Sunrisers Hyderabad started their camp on March 1 with domestic players. The Mumbai Indians have also begun preparations. Rajasthan Royals will start training in Jaipur on March 15, and Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their camp on March 18. Delhi Capitals recently trained in Hyderabad and may hold another camp in New Delhi, while Lucknow Super Giants have already practised in Lucknow.
