Punjab Kings (PBKS) have announced the signing of Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a finger injury sustained during training.
Owen is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, and will join Punjab Kings after completing his commitments. The young star gained recognition earlier this year after scoring a joint-fastest century in Big Bash League (BBL) history off just 39 balls.
Maxwell, who was struggling for form, managed only 48 runs in seven matches, leading to concerns about his contribution to PBKS’s campaign. With Punjab Kings currently placed fourth in the standings with 13 points and a net run rate of +0.199, Owen’s arrival could prove crucial as the team pushes for a playoff spot.
Fans eagerly await Owen’s debut for PBKS as the team prepares to face Lucknow Super Giants in their upcoming match at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
