Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made his first visit to Kashmir since Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, interacting with troops at Badami Bagh Cantonment and inspecting remnants of Pakistani shelling.
During his address to soldiers, Singh acknowledged their sacrifice, praising their courage in defending India’s borders. He also expressed concerns about Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, stressing the need for global supervision by an international nuclear watchdog to ensure stability in the region.
Singh’s visit follows India’s retaliatory strikes against nine terror sites inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The four-day conflict led to multiple blasts across Jammu and Srinagar, despite an agreement to halt military action. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also visited forward posts along the Line of Control, applauding soldiers for their resilience.
This high-profile visit signifies India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its strategic defence and assess ground realities following the intense cross-border engagement.
