A tragic shooting in Lawrenceville, Georgia, left four people dead early Friday morning. Among the victims was Indian national Meemu Dogra, 43, who was killed along with three relatives during an argument inside their home.

Gwinnett County police identified the suspect as Vijay Kumar, 51, of Atlanta. He allegedly shot his wife, Meemu Dogra, Gourav Kumar, 33, Nidhi Chander, 37, and Harish Chander, 38. The incident unfolded while three children were inside the residence. Investigators said the children hid in a closet to protect themselves, and one child managed to call 911, enabling officers to reach the scene quickly.

Police discovered the bodies of the four adults inside the home, each with fatal gunshot wounds. The suspect was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children.

The Consulate General of India in Atlanta expressed grief over the incident and confirmed that assistance was being extended to the bereaved family. “We are deeply grieved by a tragic shooting incident linked to an alleged family dispute, in which an Indian national was among the victims. The alleged shooter has been arrested, and all possible assistance is being extended to the bereaved family,” the mission stated.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The children, unharmed but traumatised, have been placed under the care of family members.
