Indian Railways has announced it will restore train stoppages at several stations in Odisha and nearby states starting September 1. This decision follows long-standing requests from the public and local representatives to improve rail connectivity at smaller, yet important, stations.

Phased Restoration of Services

The restoration will be implemented in phases:

  • From September 1, 2025:
    • Puri–Shalimar Dhauli Express (12822): Will stop at Markona.
    • Titlagarh–Howrah Ispat Express (12872): Will stop at Bagdehi.
    • Jagdalpur–Howrah Express (18006): Will stop at Bisra and Rajkharsawan Junction.
    • Gunupur–Rourkela Rajyarani Express (18118): Will stop at Bagdehi.
    • Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express (18477): Will stop at Basta and Bisra.
  • From September 2, 2025:
    • Puri–Shalimar Sri Jagannath Express (18410): Will stop at Rupsa Junction.
    • Puri–Patna Baidyanathdham Express (18449): Will stop at Burnpur.
  • From September 5 and 7, 2025:
    • Visakhapatnam–Digha Express (22874): Will stop at Jaleswar starting September 5.
    • Puri–Digha Express (22890): Will stop at Jaleswar starting September 7.

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) advises passengers to check updated timetables for the new stoppages, which will appear in online booking systems gradually.

In a separate development, the Rourkela–Howrah Vande Bharat Express has been approved for expansion from 8 to 16 coaches to meet high demand.
