Chennai’s Nehru Stadium is buzzing with energy as the Indian Open Athletics Meet draws top talent from across the country.
Athletes like Kishore Kumar Jena, Jeswin Aldrin, Tejas Ashok Shirse, Amoj Jacob, Vithya Ramraj, and Animesh Kujur are set to showcase their prowess in preparation for the Federation Cup in Kochi from April 21 to 24.
This pivotal event serves as a stepping stone for Asian Championships qualifications, adding significance to the competition.
Animesh Kujur, competing in both the 100m and 200m races, emphasized that his focus is on Kochi while acknowledging the necessity of participating as per the Athletics Federation of India’s requirements. Meanwhile, Vithya Ramraj, eyeing the women’s 400m hurdles, expressed her readiness to face the forthcoming challenges. With nearly 400 competitors, the meet boasts the highest participation compared to its predecessors in Sangrur, Nadiad, and Ranchi.
The athletes view this one-day event not merely as a race but as a platform for practice, learning, and determination. As preparations intensify, their sights are firmly set on representing India in South Korea later this May.
