The BCCI has announced India’s U19 squad for the upcoming tour of Australia, with Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre retaining captaincy in both ODIs and Tests. 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, fresh from his heroics in England, headlines the squad and will be keen to showcase his aggressive flair on Australian pitches.
The squad largely mirrors the team that impressed during the England tour earlier this year. Vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu, and all-rounder RS Ambrish remain key pillars in the side.
Suryavanshi already has fond memories against Australia, having smashed a blistering 58-ball century in a Youth Test in Chennai last year. He will aim to improve on his modest red-ball returns from the England series, where he shone brighter in the ODIs, emerging as top run-getter. Mhatre, meanwhile, dominated the Tests in England with 340 runs, proving his consistency at the top.
