In a significant development amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, reports indicate that India has captured a Pakistani Air Force F-16 pilot alive after his jet was intercepted and shot down by a surface-to-air missile (SAM).
The incident allegedly occurred near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, following aerial engagements.
According to reports in the national media, the F-16 fighter jet took off from Pakistan’s Sargodha air base before being targeted by India’s air defence system. The Pakistani aircraft was reportedly brought down after crossing into Indian airspace, leading to the pilot’s capture.
As tensions mounted, authorities enforced power outages across multiple Indian regions, including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions and sirens, particularly in Jammu during the imposed blackout.
Also, Pakistan fired eight missiles targeting sectors like Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, though Indian air defence units successfully intercepted them before they could inflict damage.
In light of these developments, heightened security measures have been implemented across border areas, particularly in Rajasthan’s Barmer district. Officials remain vigilant as diplomatic efforts unfold to address the evolving situation.
