New Delhi: India is trying to build e highways, according to Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in response to a query raised during question hour in Lok Sabha, he said the Indian government is attempting to build a separate ‘e-highway’ on the 1,300-kilometre-long Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Gadkari said commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses will be able to use this e highway and ply at a speed of 120 km per hour. The planned e highway on the Delhi Mumbai Expressway is expected to bring down logistics costs across the country by 70 per cent.
The minister, however, clarified that no final decision has been taken in this regard.
