India has strongly condemned the latest military escalation in West Asia following renewed hostilities between Israel and Iran, expressing deep concern over the growing instability in the region and its wider humanitarian and economic consequences.

In an official statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) called for an immediate reduction in tensions and urged all parties to prioritise diplomacy over conflict.

India Voices Concern Over Renewed Hostilities

The fresh exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran marks the first direct military confrontation between the two countries since a temporary ceasefire came into effect on April 8.

Reacting to the developments, the MEA said the renewed attacks are a matter of serious concern for the international community.

“India deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia. These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community,” the ministry stated.

Conflict Impacting Civilians and Global Economy

India highlighted the devastating impact of the prolonged conflict on civilians and warned about its repercussions for the global economy and energy markets.

According to the MEA, the conflict has now continued for more than 100 days, causing immense human suffering and disrupting economic stability across regions.

“This conflict has already caused significant humanitarian distress and has had a debilitating impact on the global economy and energy supplies,” the statement noted.

The government emphasised that protecting civilian lives must remain a top priority as tensions continue to rise.

Call for Immediate De-escalation

India urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and work towards a peaceful resolution through dialogue and negotiations.

“We call on all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions, ensure that civilians are not harmed and conclude ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region,” the MEA said.

The statement reflects India’s long-standing position of supporting peaceful dialogue and diplomatic engagement in international conflicts.

Advisory Issued for Indians in Iran

Amid escalating security concerns, the Indian Embassy in Iran issued a fresh advisory for Indian nationals residing in the country.

The embassy advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Iran and urged those already present in the country to consider leaving through available transportation options.

The advisory comes as regional security risks continue to increase following the latest exchange of military actions.

What Triggered the Latest Escalation?

The renewed tensions erupted after Iran launched strikes against Israel on Sunday, warning that it would respond to continued Israeli military actions in Lebanon.

The conflict between Israel and Lebanon has remained one of the major flashpoints in the broader regional crisis. Tehran has repeatedly maintained that lasting peace in the region depends on a ceasefire and an end to military operations in Lebanon.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli forces carried out strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, reportedly without prior warning. According to Israeli authorities, the action followed attacks launched by Iran-backed Hezbollah fighters.

Trump Reportedly Urged Restraint

Reports suggest that United States President Donald Trump urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to launch retaliatory strikes following Iran’s latest offensive.

According to sources cited by international media, Trump encouraged diplomacy and cautioned against actions that could further escalate the conflict.

Reports also indicated that there was no formal approval from Washington for Israel’s subsequent military actions.

Growing International Concern

The latest developments have heightened concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict involving multiple countries across West Asia.

With global energy markets already under pressure and international diplomatic efforts ongoing, world leaders are increasingly calling for restraint and renewed dialogue to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

India’s statement reinforces the global demand for peace, stability and a negotiated settlement as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to threaten regional security.
