The INDIA alliance outlined a five-point action plan in New Delhi on Monday after a meeting of 25 opposition parties.
Leaders focused on electoral transparency, education reforms, economic concerns, and parliamentary coordination ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said all parties expressed their views and unanimously agreed on five major issues. The bloc resolved to send a letter to the Chief Justice of India highlighting concerns over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, alleged manipulation of voter lists, and broader questions about electoral fairness.
The alliance demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing controversies surrounding NEET and CBSE examinations. Leaders argued that lakhs of students suffered due to repeated exam-related problems and accused the government of failing to safeguard their interests.
On economic issues, the bloc pledged to raise concerns about unemployment, inflation, and farmers’ distress. Leaders urged the Union government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss what they described as a worsening economic situation.
To strengthen coordination, the INDIA bloc decided to hold meetings every two months, with the next scheduled in Hyderabad in August. During the Monsoon Session, daily coordination meetings will take place at the office of the Leader of the Opposition to ensure a unified strategy.
Prominent leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, and Omar Abdullah, attended the meeting, while Uddhav Thackeray joined virtually.
