The Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team showcased resilience and skill to clinch a nerve-wracking 2-0 shootout victory over Argentina after a 1-1 deadlock in regulation time.
The gripping contest, held in Rosario, Argentina, witnessed stellar performances, with goalkeeper and captain Nidhi emerging as the game’s hero, making four crucial saves.
The match began with Argentina taking an early lead through Milagros Del Valle’s strike in the 10th minute. However, India retaliated in the second half, with Kanika’s equaliser in the 44th minute ensuring that the game remained level until the final whistle. The ensuing penalty shootout saw Lalrinpuii and Lalthantluangi convert their chances, sealing India’s win.
With this victory, India extends its unbeaten run in the Four Nations Hockey Tournament and now sets its sights on the upcoming match against Chile on May 30, 2025.
