India and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to a robust energy partnership during a high-level ministerial dialogue held via video conferencing.
Co-chaired by Shri Manohar Lal, India’s Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, and Mr. Muto Yoji, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, the meeting marked a significant milestone in the Japan-India Clean Energy Partnership.
The dialogue showcased progress across multiple sectors including clean hydrogen, ammonia, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. Ministries from both nations — including India’s Ministry of Power (MoP), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), and Ministry of Coal — presented updates and outlined future collaboration pathways.
Key outcomes of the dialogue include:
- Expansion of cooperation in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)
- Joint efforts in developing green chemicals and biofuels
- Emphasis on advanced technologies to ensure energy security and inclusive growth
Both nations underscored the strategic importance of their partnership in shaping resilient and sustainable energy systems across the Indo-Pacific region.
