The Excise Department of Cuttack district uncovered an illicit liquor factory in the Kapaleswar area under Chaudwar police limits.
The raid led to the seizure of spurious liquor worth approximately Rs 15 lakh and the arrest of the factory’s in-charge, Madhusudan Rout.
According to reports, the factory was producing counterfeit liquor mimicking reputable brands, using fake labels and packaging. The mastermind behind the operation, Joy Subham, a youth from Bihar who managed the premises, remains at large. Authorities are actively pursuing further investigations to apprehend him and uncover any larger networks involved.
The Excise Department has warned consumers about the severe risks associated with consuming counterfeit liquor, emphasising the potential life-threatening dangers.
