On the 17th day of its intensified crackdown against illegal trade, Odisha’s Enforcement Special Drive reported seizures worth Rs 1.15 crore.
The operation led to the registration of 150 cases and the arrest of 53 individuals across the state.
Officials confirmed the confiscation of 9,259 bulk litres of illicitly distilled liquor, 277 litres of duty-paid liquor, and the destruction of 94,510 litres of wash. Fourteen vehicles used for illegal transportation were also impounded.
The drive also struck a major blow to narcotics trafficking, with 11 cases booked under the NDPS Act. Authorities seized 143 kilograms of ganja and 167 grams of heroin.
The Excise Department reiterated its commitment to curbing the spread of illicit liquor and narcotics, stating that the ongoing enforcement campaign has significantly disrupted organized trafficking networks.
