The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and its alumni association, the IIMC Alumni Association (IIMCAA), must collaborate more closely to enhance the skills of media professional, said Prof. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director of IIMC Dhenkanal, on Saturday.

Speaking at Connection 2025, the annual alumni meet of the IIMC Odisha Chapter held in Bhubaneswar, Prof. Pradhan stressed the importance of coordination between the Central Committee and regional chapters to carry forward the institute’s rich legacy. He also encouraged alumni to actively participate in the upcoming silver jubilee celebrations of the Odia Journalism course, which will mark its 25th year in 2025.

The event brought together nearly 130 former students from batches spanning 1993 to 2025. It was a nostalgic occasion where cherished memories were shared and long-lost connections rekindled.

The event was graced by several distinguished personalities, including former IIMC Director UmaKant Mishra; Prof. Biraj Swain of National Law University; Prabhat Upadhyay, Ramesh Chandra, Rajesh Kumar, Neeraj Bajpayee; Prabhat Pandey; Ritesh Verma; Animesh Biswas; Atul Gupta; and representatives from both the Central and Odisha chapters. Odisha Chapter President Sandeep Sethi, Vice President Sangeeta Agrawal, Byomakesh Biswal, along with prominent alumni of Odisha, Jajati Karan, Ashok Pradhan, were also present.

Speakers unanimously highlighted that IIMC is more than just an academic institution—it represents a profound emotional connection and a guiding force in the lives of its students. They underlined that the strength of the alumni association lies in unity, collaboration, and shared success. The accomplishments of IIMC alumni continue to elevate the institute’s standing among the premier media schools in the country.

During his welcome address, Odisha Chapter President Sandeep Sethi urged the Central Committee to extend greater support in facilitating the activities of the Odisha Chapter. He also called on alumni to join hands in strengthening the reputation of the institution.

IIMC Dhenkanal, known for its tranquil setting and academic rigor, draws students from across India, and its legacy is something that all alumni are committed to preserving.

During the event, members of the Silver Jubilee batch of IIMC Dhenkanal were felicitated. The association also honoured Satya Sundar Barik, a recent recipient of the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award. A lucky draw added a touch of excitement, with three winners receiving prizes from the attending dignitaries.
